Build An Ant Empire Ant Carrying Capacity Explained

Track carrying capacity by watching full food trips instead of assuming rarity or speed always means more carrying.

Quick Answer

Carrying is part of the food-box route: ants create or move Food, players sell it for Cash, and speed/value upgrades change different parts of that route.

Best Moves

  • Carrying affects how quickly Food boxes move through the colony loop.
  • A good test should compare ants doing the same task under the same conditions.
  • Separate Food Gain Multiplier, Food value, Ant Speed, jelly boosts, ant level, and mutation EFF before calling one of them carrying capacity.

Why carrying capacity matters

Carrying is about throughput. If Food boxes pile up, travel takes too long, or each sell action is too small, the colony slows even when every ant looks busy. A colony can have many workers and still feel weak if each trip produces low value.

Think about nearby systems together: Sell Food, Expand the Ant Nest, Food Gain Multiplier, Ant Speed, Egg Luck, and Egg Range all affect how fast your colony turns work into Cash.

How to test carrying

Use the same Food source, same path, and same ant state when comparing. Watch a complete trip rather than judging from animation alone.

  • Record the ant name and rarity.
  • Watch how many boxes appear and how quickly they reach the sell route.
  • Note any upgrade, level, mutation, or jelly effect active during the test.
  • Repeat after changing only one variable, such as Ant Speed or Food Gain Multiplier.

What not to assume

Do not assume speed and carrying are the same thing. A fast ant that carries little can still lose to a slower ant if each trip delivers more value.
